How To Make Handmade Pan Pizza (Pizza Hut Copycat)

Handmade pan pizza at home just like they do at Pizza Hut. Choose from sausage or ground beef and load it up with mozzarella for one cheesy meal.

Preparation: 1 hour
Cooking: 1 hour 10 minutes
Rise Time: 1 hour
Total: 3 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

For Dough:

  • 1⅓cupwarm water,(105 degrees F)
  • ¼cuppowdered milk,non-fat
  • ½tspsalt
  • 4cupflour
  • 1tbspgranulated sugar
  • 1pkgdry yeast,(¼ oz)
  • 2tbspvegetable oil,(for dough)
  • 9ozvegetable oil,(3 ounces per pan)
  • Pam cooking spray,butter-flavored

For Sauce:

  • 8oztomato sauce,(1 can)
  • 1tspdry oregano
  • ½tspmarjoram
  • ½tspdry basil
  • ½tspgarlic salt

For Topping:

  • ground sausage,or beef, cooked
  • 16ozmozzarella cheese,grated

Instructions

  1. Combine sauce ingredients and let sit for 1 hour.

  2. Put yeast, sugar, salt, and dry milk in a large bowl.

  3. Add water and stir to mix well.

  4. Let rest for two minutes.

  5. Add oil and stir again.

  6. Add flour and stir until dough forms and flour is absorbed.

  7. Turn out on to a flat floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until elastic and no longer sticky.

  8. Divide dough into three balls.

  9. Using a rolling pin, roll out each dough ball to about a 9-inch circle.

  10. Place in cake pans.

  11. Spray the outer edge of dough with Pam and cover with a plate.

  12. Place in warm area and allow to rise for 1 to 1½ hours.

  13. Preheat oven to 475 degrees F.

  14. For each 9-inch pizza, spoon ⅓ cup sauce on dough and spread to within 1-inch of edge.

  15. Distribute 1½ ounces shredded mozzarella cheese on sauce.

  16. Place toppings of choice in this order: Pepperoni or ham, vegetables, meats (cooked ground sausage or beef). Top with 3 ounces mozzarella cheese.

  17. Cook until cheese is bubbling and outer crust is brown.

  18. Serve hot.
