Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried navy beans
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse and sort the dried navy beans. Place them in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and let the beans soak for 1 hour. Drain and rinse the beans.

  2. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

  3. In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, combine the soaked beans, molasses, brown sugar, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, diced bacon, diced onion, water, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  4. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and place in the preheated oven. Bake for 3 to 4 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender and the sauce has thickened.

  5. Remove from the oven and let the beans cool slightly before serving. Serve hot and enjoy!
