Ingredients

  • 8 ounces ziti pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  6. In a large baking dish, combine the cooked ziti pasta and the meat sauce. Mix well to coat the pasta evenly.

  7. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the top.

  8. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
