How To Make Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries


  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, milk, melted butter, and egg.

  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. Gently fold in the blueberries.

  5. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with cooking spray or butter.

  6. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown.

  7. Serve the pancakes warm with maple syrup and additional blueberries, if desired.
