  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.

  2. Add the vegetable oil and water to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes until smooth.

  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat round.

  5. Heat a greased skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the bannock rounds in the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.

  6. Serve warm with butter, honey, or jam.
