Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk and molasses together until well combined.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  6. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
