How To Make Staffordshire Oatcakes Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp of melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the oats, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.

  3. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.

  4. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease with butter.

  5. Pour a ladleful of the batter into the pan and spread it out evenly.

  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges start to lift and the bottom is golden brown.

  7. Flip the oatcake and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.

  8. Repeat with the remaining batter, greasing the pan as needed.

  9. Serve the oatcakes warm with your favorite toppings such as cheese, bacon, or eggs.
