How To Make Johnnycakes
No breakfast is complete without hot stacks of delicious pancakes! You may not be a morning person now, but with our yummy pancake recipes you certainly will be! In a large bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Heat a griddle or large non-stick skillet over medium heat and grease with butter or cooking spray.
Pour 1/4 cup of the batter onto the griddle for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
Repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve the Johnnycakes warm with maple syrup or your favorite toppings.
