This dressing recipe combines holiday favorites for a tasty stuffing! Savory stock, crunchy veggies, and sweet chestnuts are mixed for a festive side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1large onion
  • 1large carrot
  • 3celery stalk
  • 3stickunsalted butter
  • 2bosc pears
  • 1cupchestnuts
  • 8ozbreakfast sausage
  • ½cupparsley
  • ½cupfresh sage leaves
  • 8cupsrustic country bread
  • 2cupsturkey stock,or chicken
  • salt and black pepper,to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Cook onion, carrot, and celery over medium heat in 2 tablespoons of the butter for about 10 to 12 minutes until soft.

  3. Combine the pears, chestnuts, sausage, herbs, and bread in a large bowl. Add onion, carrot, and celery mixture.

  4. Add enough of the butter and stock to lightly moisten the bread without allowing it to become soggy. Handle dressing gently when mixing. Season to taste, being generous with the black pepper.

  5. Spoon dressing into a buttered shallow baking pan and cover with foil. Bake immediately for about 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.

  6. Serve warm and enjoy.
