BBQ Popcorn Breaded Chicken Recipe

How To Make BBQ Popcorn Breaded Chicken

For this breaded chicken, the meat is marinated in barbecue sauce and baked until juicy and tender. It’s served with butter BBQ popcorn on the side!

  • 2chicken breasts,boneless, skinless
  • 1tbsphot sauce
  • 1tbspbbq sauce,plus extra to serve
  • 1tbspperi-peri sauce
  • 1tbsplemon juice
  • 1tbspsmoked paprika
  • 1tbspchili powder
  • 1tbspbrown sugar
  • 2tbspbbq seasoning,divided
  • 3tbspcoconut oil
  • cupyellow popcorn kernals
  • 1tbspmelted butter
  • 1canbbq chips


  1. Wash and drain the chicken breasts.

  2. In a medium bowl, mix the hot sauce, BBQ sauce, peri-peri sauce, and lemon juice.

  3. In a separate bowl of the same size, mix the smoked paprika, chili powder, brown sugar, and half of the BBQ seasoning.

  4. Drizzle the wet mixture on the chicken breasts, making sure to get both sides. Sprinkle the dry mixture on the chicken breasts, making sure to get both sides.

  5. Marinate the chicken breasts in the fridge for 4 hours.

  6. After 4 hours or so, preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

  7. Put a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Melt the coconut oil in the saucepan. Put 3 or 4 kernels of popcorn in the saucepan. Once they pop, add the rest of the kernels, put on the lid, and take off the heat.

  8. After 30 seconds or so, place back onto the stovetop. Shake often. Once the popping reduces to every 4 seconds, remove it from heat.

  9. Pour the melted butter on the popcorn, stirring to get all of the popcorn. Add the rest of the BBQ seasoning, stirring to get all of the popcorn.

  10. Grind ⅔ of the popcorn along with the BBQ chips. Sprinkle this over the marinated chicken breasts, making sure to get both sides. The marinade should adhere to the popcorn crumbs.

  11. Bake the chicken for 18 to 20 minutes. Once ready, serve with the rest of the popcorn and the BBQ sauce.
