Ingredients

  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.

  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes.

  4. In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the sauce on the bottom. Add half of the cooked spaghetti on top, followed by half of the remaining sauce. Repeat with the remaining spaghetti and sauce.

  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.

  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  7. Let the baked spaghetti cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired.
