How To Make Sweet & Sour Chicken & Veg

  • 2 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • Vegetable oil, for cooking
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice, for serving


  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Set aside.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  3. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.

  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, until they start to soften.

  5. Add the pineapple chunks to the skillet and cook for another 2 minutes.

  6. Return the chicken to the skillet and pour the sweet and sour sauce over everything. Stir well to coat.

  7. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

  8. Serve the sweet and sour chicken and vegetables over cooked rice. Enjoy!
