Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.

  3. Heat the olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.

  4. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until browned.

  5. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  6. In the same skillet, add the diced onion, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the onion is translucent.

  7. Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

  8. Return the chicken breasts back to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over each breast.

  9. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through.

  10. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve hot.
