How To Make Yvonne’s Fried Chicken Recipe

Classic Southern fried chicken that’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

  • 8 pieces of chicken (thighs, drumsticks, or a mix)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying


  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper.

  2. Combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.

  3. Dip chicken pieces in buttermilk then coat in flour mixture.

  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  5. Fry chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.

  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
