How To Make Tofu Stir Fry
A delicious and healthy stir fry made with tofu, crisp vegetables, and a flavorful sauce.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 14 oz (400g) firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 carrot, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup low-sodium vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Green onions, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions

In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce and cornstarch. Cut the tofu into cubes and toss in the soy sauce mixture. Set aside.

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the bell pepper, carrot, onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir fry for 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are crisp-tender.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable broth, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Pour the sauce over the vegetables in the skillet and stir to combine.

Return the tofu to the skillet and toss with the vegetables and sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until everything is heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the tofu stir fry over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
