How To Make Spicy Bean Burgers with Lime Yogurt & Salsa

These spicy bean burgers are packed with flavor and topped with tangy lime yogurt and salsa.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lime yogurt (1 cup Greek yogurt mixed with juice and zest of 1 lime)
  • Salsa for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans until they form a paste.

  2. Add the red onion, garlic, jalapeno pepper, breadcrumbs, cumin, paprika, chili powder, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

  3. Form the mixture into 4 patties.

  4. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until crispy and heated through.

  5. Toast the burger buns.

  6. Spread lime yogurt on the bottom halves of the buns. Top with the bean patties and salsa. Place the top halves of the buns on top.

  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
