How To Make Slow Cooker Bread
This easy slow cooker bread recipe yields a fluffy and delicious loaf that’s perfect for serving with soups or as sandwich bread.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 ¼ cups warm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- Olive oil, for greasing
Instructions
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.
-
Mix everything together until a shaggy dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Grease the inside of the slow cooker with olive oil. Place the dough into the greased slow cooker and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
-
After the dough has risen, remove the kitchen towel and cover the slow cooker with its lid. Cook on high for 2 hours or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
-
Carefully remove the bread from the slow cooker and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
