How To Make Simple Teriyaki Sauce

A sweet and savory soy sauce-based sauce perfect for dipping and marinating.

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water


  1. In a saucepan, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger.

  2. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and cold water.

  4. Pour cornstarch mixture into soy sauce mixture, whisking constantly.

  5. Reduce heat and let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes or until it thickens to desired consistency.

  6. Remove from heat and let it cool down before use.
