Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 hot cross buns, sliced
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup of raisins
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Grease a baking dish and arrange the sliced hot cross buns in a single layer.

  3. In a saucepan, heat the milk and cream over medium heat until steaming.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

  6. Sprinkle the raisins over the hot cross buns in the baking dish.

  7. Pour the custard mixture over the buns, making sure to evenly coat them.

  11. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

  12. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
