Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized and golden brown, stirring occasionally for about 15-20 minutes.

  2. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

  3. Slowly pour in the broth, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-10 minutes, until the gravy thickens.

  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Remove the gravy from heat and let it cool slightly before serving. Serve warm over your favorite dishes.
