  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish.

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

  3. Beat in the egg until fully incorporated.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

  6. Fold in the chopped nuts, if desired.

  7. Spread the batter evenly into the greased baking dish.

  8. Bake for 25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
