How To Make Danish Pastries

These Danish pastries are buttery and flaky, perfect for a delicious breakfast or treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
  • 1/2 cup of almond paste
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of butter, softened
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface.

  3. Cut the pastry into rectangles, about 4×6 inches in size.

  4. Spread a thin layer of almond paste onto each rectangle.

  5. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and softened butter until well combined.

  6. Drop spoonfuls of the sugar-butter mixture onto the almond paste.

  7. Fold the pastry rectangles in half, creating pockets with the filling.

  8. Press the edges of the pastry with a fork to seal them.

  9. Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg.

  10. Place the pastries on a baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

  11. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

  12. Dust the pastries with powdered sugar before serving.
