How To Make Chocolate Bread & Butter Pudding
A rich and indulgent dessert made with layers of buttered bread and gooey chocolate, baked to perfection.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 6 slices of bread
- 100g dark chocolate, chopped
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Butter, for greasing
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
-
Butter one side of each bread slice and cut them into triangles.
-
Arrange a layer of bread triangles, buttered side up, in the greased baking dish. Sprinkle half of the chopped chocolate over the bread.
-
In a saucepan, heat the milk, heavy cream, and sugar over medium heat until it reaches a simmer. Remove from heat.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and vanilla extract. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously.
-
Pour half of the custard mixture over the bread and chocolate in the baking dish. Press down the bread lightly to ensure it is soaked in the custard.
-
Repeat the layers with the remaining bread triangles and chocolate, followed by the remaining custard mixture.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
-
Serve warm and enjoy the creamy, chocolatey goodness!
