How To Make Cheese & Bacon Scones

These savory scones are loaded with cheese and crispy bacon, making them the perfect breakfast or brunch treat.

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 35 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, diced
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add the cold butter to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Stir in the grated cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.

  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and sour cream. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle.

  7. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out scones from the dough. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet.

  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.

  9. Allow the scones to cool slightly before serving.
