How To Make Cheese & Bacon Scones
These savory scones are loaded with cheese and crispy bacon, making them the perfect breakfast or brunch treat.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, diced
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sour cream
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
-
Add the cold butter to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the grated cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and sour cream. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle.
-
Use a round biscuit cutter to cut out scones from the dough. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
-
Allow the scones to cool slightly before serving.
