How To Make Brioche

This is a delicious and buttery French pastry that is perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.

  2. Make a well in the center and pour in warm milk. Mix together until a sticky dough forms.

  3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

  4. Gradually add softened butter and knead the dough until smooth and elastic.

  5. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into desired brioche shape.

  7. Place the shaped brioche on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  8. Let the brioche rise for another 30 minutes.

  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  10. Brush the tops of the brioche with beaten egg.

  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

  12. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
