How To Make Basic Pancakes
Classic and fluffy pancakes that are perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Additional butter or oil for cooking pancakes
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then stir in the milk and melted butter.
-
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; lumps are okay.
-
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a small pat of butter or a drizzle of oil.
-
Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot skillet for each pancake.
-
Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancake, then flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more butter or oil to the skillet as needed.
-
Serve the pancakes hot with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
