Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 4 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • For the sauce:
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add sliced onions and sauté until softened and lightly browned.

  3. Push the onions to the side of the skillet and add the beef slices. Cook until browned.

  4. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and grated ginger to make the sauce.

  5. Pour the sauce over the beef and onions in the skillet. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.

  6. Divide the cooked rice into four bowls. Top with the beef and onion mixture.

  7. Garnish with chopped green onions.

  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
