Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef stew meat
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

  2. Season the beef stew meat with salt and pepper, then sear in the hot oil until browned on all sides. Remove from pot and set aside.

  3. In the same pot, add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Cook until fragrant and onions are translucent.

  4. Return the beef to the pot and add soy sauce, honey, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer.

  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the beef simmer for 2 hours or until tender.

  6. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a little water to make a slurry. Add the slurry to the pot and cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the sauce thickens.

  7. Serve the braised beef over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with chopped green onions.
