This one hour cinnamon rolls recipe delivers delicious fresh cinnamon rolls in just under an hour! They are soft and gooey, with a yummy drizzle on top.

How To Make One Hour Cinnamon Rolls

For the dough

  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 ¼ tsp. instant yeast
  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter (softened, for brushing on the dough)

For the filling

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 3 tbsp. ground cinnamon

For the icing

  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • ¼ cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp. milk (if needed)

Making the dough

  1. Combine milk and 1 cup butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat until butter is melted but milk is not boiling.

  2. Transfer the milk-butter mixture to a stand mixer bowl. Mix in egg and blend in yeast.

  3. Add flour, salt, and sugar. Mix for 5 minutes on medium speed until a ball of dough forms.

  4. Cover dough and allow to rest for 10 minutes.

Making the filling

  1. Add sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.

  2. Whisk together until well combined.

Making the rolls

  1. After the dough is ready, roll it out onto a floured surface until it measures approximately 14×9 inches.

  2. Spread 1/2 cup softened butter over dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mix.

  3. Roll into a log and pinch to seal. Cut the log into 12 equal rolls.

  4. Place the rolls onto a greased baking dish and cover in a warm place for 30 minutes to let rise.

  5. After rolls have risen, place in a 350-degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

  6. Remove from the oven and let cool.
