How To Make Chocolate Bread with Peanut Butter Chips

This rich, indulgent chocolate bread is made with milk and cocoa powder, then baked studded with chocolate and peanut butter chips.

  • 2cupsflour
  • 2tspbaking powder
  • ¼tspsalt
  • 18tbspunsalted butter,softened and divided
  • 8tbspunsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1⅓cupssugar
  • 2large eggs
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • ½cupmilk
  • 1cupsemisweet chocolate chips
  • 1cuppeanut butter chips


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper; grease the parchment paper as well.

  3. Melt 6 tablespoons of butter in the microwave, using 30-second increments until fully melted. Mix the cocoa powder into the melted butter until well combined.

  4. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.

  5. Using a mixer, combine the remaining 12 tablespoons of softened butter with the sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well.

  6. Gradually mix in the flour mixture to the batter, then mix in the milk.

  7. Mix butter-cocoa mixture into the batter until fully combined.

  8. Gently stir in chocolate chips and peanut butter chips until well distributed.

  9. Pour the batter into the loaf pan.

  10. Cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 30 minutes.

  11. Let cool before removing from loaf pan.
