How To Make Tri Color Caprese Salad

Invitingly colorful, this Caprese salad is made fresh with bright tomatoes, basil leaves, and cheese, then drizzled with balsamic vinegar, for a light meal.

  • 3large yellow tomatoes,sliced
  • 4ozfresh basil,(1 package), leaves stripped from stems
  • 3large red tomatoes,sliced
  • 10ozfresh mozzarella cheese,sliced
  • 1shallot,very thinly shaved
  • 2tbspolive oil,or to taste
  • tbspbalsamic vinegar,aged, or to taste
  • salt and ground black pepper,to taste


  1. Arrange the alternate slices of yellow tomato, whole basil leaves, slices of red tomato, and mozzarella cheese slices on a serving platter in rows.

  2. Sprinkle with shaved shallot. Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad.

  3. Season with salt and black pepper, then serve and enjoy!
