How To Make Carne Asada

You don’t have to line up at a restaurant to get this classic Mexican dish! Try recreating your own tasty carne asada at home.

Total: 4 hours 27 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1lbflank steak

For Marinade:

  • ¼cupfresh lime juice
  • cuporange juice
  • 1tbspsoy sauce
  • 2tbspvegetable oil
  • 1jalapeno,halved and seeded
  • 3garlic cloves
  • 1tspcumin

For Serving:

  • 8corn tortillas
  • pico de gallo
  • guacamole

Instructions

Marinade:

  1. Combine the lime juice, orange juice, soy sauce, oil, jalapeno, garlic, and cumin in a blender and pulse until blended.

  2. Coat the flank steak with the marinade, and marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  3. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

  4. Grill the steak 7 to 9 minutes.

  5. Flip over and cook an additional 5 to 7 minutes or to reach desired doneness.

  6. Allow steak to rest for 10 minutes.

  7. Grill corn tortillas just until softened and lightly browned on the edges. Wrap in foil to keep warm.

To Assemble:

  1. Slice steak across the grain and then cut into small pieces.

  2. Fill the warmed tortillas with steak, pico de gallo, onion and guacamole.

  3. Serve, and enjoy!
