How To Make Peruvian Lomo Saltado Recipe

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef (sirloin or tenderloin), cut into thin strips
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
  • Cooked white rice, for serving
  • French fries, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over high heat. Add the beef strips and cook until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. In the same skillet, add the onions, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook until they begin to soften.

  3. Add the tomatoes and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the soy sauce, vinegar, cumin powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

  5. Cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until the beef is cooked to your liking.

  6. Serve the Lomo Saltado over cooked white rice and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve with French fries on the side.
