
How To Make Smoky Black Bean Burgers
Enjoy a healthier game-day dish with these smoky black bean burgers made with bread crumbs, feta cheese, and warm spices for hearty baked patties.

Ingredients
- 28ozblack beans,(2 cans), drained, rinsed, and patted dry
- 1tbspextra virgin olive oil
- Âľcupbell pepper,finely chopped
- 1cupyellow onion,finely chopped
- 3clovesgarlic,minced
- 1½tspground cumin
- 1tspchili powder
- ½tspgarlic powder
- ÂĽtspsmoked paprika
- ½cupbread crumbs,or oat flour
- ½cupfeta cheese
- 2large eggs
- 1tbspworcestershire sauce
- 2tbspketchup,mayo, or BBQ sauce
- 1pinchsalt
- 1pinchpepper
Instructions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Spread beans evenly onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until slightly dried out.

Meanwhile, sauté olive oil, chopped pepper, onion, and garlic over medium heat for about 5 to 6 minutes until peppers and onions are soft. Gently blot some of the moisture out.

Place in a large bowl or in a food processor with the remaining ingredients. Stir or pulse everything together, then add the black beans. Mash with a fork or pulse the mixture, leaving some larger chunks of beans.

Form into patties, about â…“ cup of mixture in each.

Place patties on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes on each side.:

Recipe Notes
You can also grill the patties by placing them on a greased aluminum foil then cook for 8 minutes on each side. Heat temperature is a personal preference as all grills differ. Generally, black bean burgers should grill on medium-high heat for about 350 – 400 degrees F.
