- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles

Preheat grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.

In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a thin patty.
