Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

  • 1 lb white fish fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup beer
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato slices, and tartar sauce for serving

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.

  2. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Dip each fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off, then carefully place it into the hot oil.

  5. Fry the fish for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Remove the fish from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  7. Toast the burger buns lightly and spread tartar sauce on the bottom half of each bun.

  8. Top with a fried fish fillet, lettuce, and tomato slices. Cover with the top bun.

  9. Serve the beer-battered fish burgers with additional tartar sauce on the side.
