How To Make Quick-Layered Pesto Spread

We've combined plain cream cheese and basil pesto sauce to make this fresh and homemade pesto spread for all your favorite slices of bread and crackers.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz plain cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz basil pesto sauce in oil, or homemade if you're feeling ambitious
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced (plum tomatoes are best for this)

Instructions

  1. Spread softened cream cheese over entire bottom of a shallow serving platter or pie plate.
  2. Evenly spread pesto sauce over the cream cheese.
  3. Sprinkle garlic over pesto and top with the chopped tomato.
  4. Place a spreader or small spoon in the dish for topping on toasted French bread, crackers, toasted bagels, pita chips or packaged cocktail rye bread.
