Enjoy a chunky and creamy dip in this easy recipe of guacamole with cumin, jalapeno, and cilantro for a flavorful side that’s perfect with chips.

Ingredients

  • ½tspcumin seeds
  • 5largehass avocados,halved and pitted
  • 3tbspfresh lemon juice
  • 2tbspcilantro,finely chopped
  • 1small onion
  • 1clovelarge garlic
  • 1jalapeno,with some seeds, minced
  • salt,to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small skillet, toast the cumin seeds over moderately high heat, shaking the skillet, for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Transfer the cumin seeds to a mortar to cool completely, then finely grind with a pestle.

  2. Scoop ½ of the avocados into a large bowl and coarsely mash them with a fork. Stir in lemon juice, cilantro, onion, garlic, jalapeño, and ground cumin. Scoop chunks of the remaining avocados into the bowl; stir lightly with a spoon.

  3. Season the guacamole with salt and serve at room temperature or lightly chilled. Enjoy!
