How To Make Bolognese Sauce

This meaty Bolognese sauce is rich with an earthy and minty taste that creates an overall savory and filling sauce for pasta or noodle dishes.

Ingredients

  • 4ozpancetta,chopped
  • 1tbspbutter
  • 1small onion,chopped
  • ½cupcelery,minced
  • ½cupcarrots,minced
  • 1lb95% lean ground beef
  • ¼cupwhite wine
  • 28oztomatoes,(2 cans)
  • 1bay leaf
  • salt and fresh pepper
  • ¼cupfresh parsley,chopped
  • ½cuphalf & half

Instructions

  1. In a deep heavy saute pan, sauté pancetta until fat melts.

  2. Add butter, onions, celery and carrots and cook on medium-low heat until soft, about 5 minutes.

  3. Increase flame to medium-high, add meat, season with salt and pepper and sauté until browned.

  4. Add wine, cook until it reduces down, about 3 to 4 minutes.

  5. Add tomatoes and bay leaf. Simmer covered on low, at least 1-½ to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

  6. Add half and half and parsley, cook 2 minutes longer.
