For Bean Layer:
- 2tbspolive oil
- 1shallot,finely chopped
- 2garlic cloves,finely chopped
- 2cupsblack beans,cooked
- 1tspground cumin
- 1pinchcayenne pepper
- fine sea salt,to taste
- black pepper,freshly ground, to taste
For Sour Cream Layer:
- 1¼cupssour cream
- ½lime,juiced
- fine sea salt,to taste
For Avocado Layer:
- 4avocados,chopped
- ½lime,zested
- ½lime,juiced
- fine sea salt,to taste
- 1½cupscheddar cheese,shredded
- 2cupscherry tomato,chopped
- ¾cupblack olive,sliced
- ¾cupscallion,sliced
- 1cupwhole cilantro leaf
For Serving:
- tortilla chip
- hot sauce
Instructions

In a large saucepan, heat the oil. Add the shallot and garlic, then sauté for 3 to 5 minutes until tender.

Add the black beans, then mash until smooth. Season with ground cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

Spread the bean mixture in an even layer over the bottom of a 9-inch clear glass dish.

In a medium bowl, stir together the sour cream and lime juice, then season with salt. Spread the sour cream mixture over the bean layer.

In another medium bowl, mash together the avocados, lime juice and zest, and season with salt. Spread the avocado mixture over the sour cream layer.

Sprinkle with the cheese, tomatoes, olives, scallions, and cilantro.
