5 Easy Steak Marinades Recipe

How To Make 5 Easy Steak Marinades

For Cold Brew Marinade:

  • ¾cupcold brew coffee,or any strong coffee
  • 2tbspbalsamic vinegar
  • 2tbspolive oil
  • 1tspDijon mustard
  • 1tspreshly-cracked black pepper
  • ½tspgarlic powder
  • ½tsponion powder

For Fajita Marinade:

  • cuplime juice
  • cuppineapple juice
  • 2tbspolive oil
  • 2tspcumin
  • 1tspchili powder
  • ½tspgarlic powder
  • salt and pepper

For Korean Marinade:

  • ½cupAsian pear puree or juice,or any kind of pear
  • ¼cuplow-sodium soy sauce,or tamari
  • 2tbspbrown sugar
  • 2tbspoil,or olive oil
  • 1tsptoasted sesame oil
  • ½tspgarlic powder
  • ½tspground ginger
  • 1tsptoasted sesame seeds,optional
  • 1tbspthinly-sliced scallions

For Chimichurri Marinade:

  • 1cupfresh flat-leaf parsley,tightly packed about 1 bunch of parsley
  • 1cupfresh cilantro,tightly packed about 1 bunch of parsley
  • ½cupred onion,diced
  • 3tbspfresh oregano,tightly packed, optional
  • 3cloves of garlic,peeled
  • 2tbspfresh lemon or lime juice
  • 2tbspred wine vinegar
  • ¼tspsea salt
  • ¼tspfreshly-ground black pepper
  • ¼tspred pepper flakes,or more, to taste
  • ½cupgood-quality olive oil

For Balsamic & Herb Marinade:

  • cupbalsamic vinegar
  • 3tbsplow-sodium soy sauce,or tamari
  • 2tbspWorcestershire sauce
  • 2tbspfinely-chopped fresh rosemary
  • 2tbspolive oil
  • 2tspdijon mustard
  • 1tsppowder and freshly-cracked black pepper
  • ½tsponion powder


  1. Whisk together the ingredients for (one) marinade in a small bowl until combined.

  2. Combine marinade with steak in a ziplock freezer bag, and toss until the steak is evenly coated in the marinade.  Carefully press out any extra air that might be in the bag, then seal.  (You will need ⅓ cup marinade per 1 pound of steak.)

If Using Immediately:

  1. Refrigerate the steak pack(s) for anywhere from 30 minutes to up to 1 day.

If Freezing:

  1. Immediately transfer the steak pack(s) to the freezer, and freeze for up to 3 months.  When ready to cook the steak, transfer the steak pack back to the refrigerator for 24 hours, or until it has thawed completely.  To speed up the process, submerge the sealed steak pack in a bowl of cold water in the refrigerator until it has thawed completely.

  2. When ready to cook, remove the steak from the marinade, discard the remaining marinade, and let the steak rest on a plate for 20 minutes at room temperature.  Cook in preferred manner.
