How To Make Wonton Soup

An incredible tasty dish for any occasion! A bowl of this delicious dumpling soup is an instant pick-me-up for anyone to enjoy. Tender vegetables with a light broth seasoned just right, and delectable dumplings soaking away in the tasty soup is just superb.

For the Filling:

  • ¾ lb ground pork
  • 2 tbsp celery, minced
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 ½ tsp white wine
  • ½ tsp sesame seed oil
  • tsp salt
  • dash white pepper
  • 30 wonton wrappers

For the Soup:

  • 48 oz chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 scallion, chopped


  1. In a medium bowl, mix filling ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Cover wonton wrappers with a damp cloth.
  3. Laying a couple of wrappers out at a time, moisten each with water.
  4. Place 1 teaspoon filling in center of each wrapper.
  5. Fold over at center.
  6. Wet with water along edges and press together.
  7. Fold in ⅓ lengthwise at the open side.

  8. Fold the two upper ends to the back and over each other, pressing together with a little water.
  9. In a medium saucepan, bring two quarts of water to a boil.
  10. Add wontons, stirring constantly.
  11. Cover and return to boil.
  12. Add 1 cup cold water, cover and return to boil.
  13. When wontons are cooked, they will float.
  14. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking.
  15. In a large saucepan, bring broth to a boil.
  16. Add in soy sauce and cooked wontons and return to a boil.
  17. Garnish with green onions and serve.
