How To Make Clam and Mushroom Chowder Recipe

A creamy and savory chowder filled with clams and mushrooms, perfect for a cold day.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cans of chopped clams (drained and juice reserved)
  • 1 pound of fresh mushrooms (sliced)
  • 4 slices of bacon (diced)
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 2 stalks of celery (diced)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.

  2. In the same pot, melt butter and sauté onion, celery and garlic until soft.

  3. Add mushrooms and cook until tender.

  4. Add flour and stir until vegetables are coated.

  5. Slowly add chicken broth and reserved clam juice, stirring constantly until smooth and slightly thickened.

  6. Add chopped clams and heavy cream. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  8. Serve hot and garnish with chopped parsley.
