  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 bunch kale, stems removed and leaves chopped
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste


  1. In a large pot, cook the sliced sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove the sausage from the pot and set aside.

  2. In the same pot, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is softened and translucent.

  3. Add the diced sweet potatoes, chicken broth, and smoked paprika to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender.

  4. Use an immersion blender to puree about half of the soup, leaving some chunks for texture. If you don’t have an immersion blender, you can transfer half of the soup to a blender and blend until smooth, then return it to the pot.

  5. Add the chopped kale and cooked sausage to the pot. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, or until the kale is wilted.

  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
