
How To Make Slow Cooker French Onion Soup
Our recipe is a slow cooker version of the classic French onion soup. It has a beef broth base, loads of herbs, and a Gruyere cheese topping.

Ingredients
- 3largewhite onions,sliced
- 3tbspbutter
- 2tbspbrown sugar
- 64ozBeef Broth
- 1tbspWorcestershire sauce
- 1clove garlic,minced
- â…“cupdry sherry
- 4sprigs fresh thyme,or 1 tsp dried Thyme
- 1bay leaf
- 8dry french bread,slices
- ÂľcupGruyere cheese,shredded
- ½cupEmmental cheese,shredded
- 6tbspfresh parmesan cheese
Instructions

In a large non-stick pan, cook onions, butter and brown sugar over medium-low heat until golden and caramelized. This will take about 20 minutes.

Once golden, add to the slow cooker along with remaining ingredients except bread and cheeses.

Cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours.

Remove and discard bay leaf and ladle the soup into bowls. Top with dry bread slices and cheeses. Broil 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese is melted and browned.
