  • 8 cups of day-old bread, cubed
  • 1 lb sausage, casings removed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

  3. In the same skillet, sauté the onion and celery until they are softened.

  4. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, cooked sausage, sautéed onion and celery, diced apples, dried cranberries, parsley, sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  5. Pour the chicken broth and melted butter over the bread mixture. Stir until all the ingredients are evenly moistened.

  6. Transfer the stuffing to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover with foil.

  7. Bake for 30 minutes covered. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
