How To Make Traditional Rice Stuffing Recipe

Stuffing is a great add-on to your main dishes. More than just something to fill the turkey with during Thanksgiving, stuffing is a wonderful side dish to complement your dish of choice. There’s no stopping you in enjoying this stuffing recipe!

Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the broth to a boil. Add the rice, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.

  2. In a separate skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and celery, and sauté until the vegetables are softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add the cooked rice to the skillet with the vegetables and stir to combine. Season with thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.

  4. Cook the stuffing mixture for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

  5. Serve hot alongside your favorite main dish.
