How To Make Spiced Braised Red Cabbage

Ingredients
- 1 small red cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until softened.

Add the sliced red cabbage and diced apple to the pot. Stir in the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the cabbage simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until it is tender.

Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
