Ingredients

  • 4 large tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large baking dish, arrange the tomato and onion slices in layers.

  3. In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, minced garlic, olive oil, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.

  4. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the tomatoes and onions.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

  7. Serve the crunchy baked tomato & onion gratin as a side dish or as a main course with a salad for a complete meal.
