How To Make Southern-Style Mac ‘n’ Cheese

Ingredients
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, until bubbly. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.

Stir in the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the mixture thickens.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses until melted and creamy.

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.

Sprinkle paprika evenly over the top of the mac ‘n’ cheese.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
